Lichenstar
Storm
Leader
Tom
19 moons
A fluffy mahogany tom with green sometimes silver eyes.
Lichenstar tries to be a fair and kind leader, even after all the bloodshed and fighting that had helped him rise to power. It wasn't what he wanted, and all the cats knew that; he had a terrible time being leader at first. Opposed against most of the kingdom but in need of Clan members, he struggles with his love for his new Clan and his hatred for the cats who thought themselves better than he and the others. The dispelling of the Kingdom wasn't that long ago and the wounds are still extremely fresh, Lichenstar having the most reason to hate. However he's an extremely forgiving tom, trying to find the good in every cat. He tries to let the past lie in the past and not condemn an innocent who looks to join the Clan because of their linage or parentage. But to take Lichenstar for a fool is a mistake, he was the first to die and receive his nine lives and it would be a fool's errand to try and cross him. Being the pseudo patron for a clan who value courage and bravery above all, cowardice is the least tolerated. Patience, is something he's trying to learn, loosely depending on his Clan to help him learn some values that will make him a better leader.
Lichen was born to an unnamed nurse that had died early on, his young life was fallen upon Lily: a she-cat who had joined the resistance while heavily pregnant with a slave's kit. He grew up learning that the Kingdom was bad and dreaming of cats with stars in their fur. During his tenth moon, the cats with the stars in their fur began to speak to him. They began to whisper about a better life, of the usurping of a tyrant. When he was fifteen moons, he began to fight for the resistance, terrified to kill any cat, but learning the courage and bravery to save the cats who had begun to believe his dreams and stories. He eventually took the power he believed that the others wanted him to have, they looked up to him to lead them. But the others, his half siblings, cats who were supposed to love him, transpired against him, and struck him down from behind.
Death, it has an amazing way of putting your perspectives in order, especially when you manage to come back from it. "You will be known as Lichenstar, leader of Stormclan. You will honor Courage and Bravery above all." When Lichen became Lichenstar everything changed, he now had to lead a Clan and the pressure was strong. But they believed in him and they loved him, Lichen was an icon. But there was more than one Clan, and Lichenstar couldn't lead them together. So begat the other leaders of the Clans:
In a great silence, the group of cats awaited the instruction of their new leader. The fighting was over, and one cat had clearly won. The group awaited their brutal fate. Would it be death, or a long life of servitude once more? Had everything they had worked for vanished so quickly? It was not so. The tom that stood high above the others now on the hill they had fought, looking majestic and empowered, spoke of something new. Of a rebirth, a renewal, to life the way it was before. He told cats to return the next evening, and that there would be a new organization, a new equality for all.
Mutual harmony, he called it. That sounded beautiful.
Without questioning, cats left limping and sore, and returned the next day equally run-down. Now, four cats stood atop the hill. The tom who was born of the Duke's blood, named Lichen; a tom who had led cats in revolt against the Duke, Rorschach; a she-cat who had served under the Duke but experienced a change of heart, Travesty; and a tom with two legs who had suffered the Duke's evils most of all, Anakin.
The perfect four to lead a newer way of life.
The throng of feline bodies swayed with anticipation. Lichen cried out that StarClan was indeed real, and that they were sending him to bring back the Clans. The four cats before him, he told them, were the new leaders, chosen by the ancestors of those who had gone on before. The audience could not believe what was being said. Many had believed secretly for years, though many more did not believe or did not even know what StarClan was.
But they trusted him enough that if he said they needed to rebuild the Clans, they were willing to try.
Lichen stayed standing forward, and cried out mightily, "StormClan shall be led by me. It will be a Clan of courage and strength. The brave of heart will be found here." He backed up, and motioned for the next cat to step forward.
Rorschach took his place in front. "HiddenClan is a Clan of loyalty and of justice. We fight to defend our own, and all cats shall be valued as equals." He stepped back with great power and authority, as the next cat stepped up.
Travesty, one cat who made a few in the watching crowd prickle. They were only nervous until he spoke. "RainClan is built on the foundations of trust and understanding. We shall treat each other honorably, and love each other as we do our family."
Last to come forward was Anakin, and it was immediately clear that the cats were skeptical of his abilities. Could he truly lead a Clan? They were beginning to feel that even Travesty, who had served the Duke, might be a better choice than a two-legged young tom.
"GustClan will be brothers, sisters, united and together working to achieve greatness. A Clan of understanding, of patient virtues, who strive for compassion above all others. We shall be cats who are brought together in our time of need, to strengthen, and to support. Differences will be accepted, and non shall be turned away. We shall always be a home for those in need, who may flee to us as a sanctuary. GustClan will be great, because it is willing to look beyond differences and truly see what it means to be cats under the vast and mighty StarClan."
